There is a position available to join a critical migration project for a Technical Project Consultant to provide technical based recommendations and solutions to migrate information technology environments, including applications and desktop Managed Operating Environment (MOE) to a different network.

The person we are searching for needs to 'hit the ground running', and show demonstrated experience with infrastructure and some application (system) software skills and be able to plan and direct the migration of applications on current and legacy technologies including the .NET platform, Java, ASP and Unix with SQL Server and Oracle databases and middleware such as Oracle WebLogic and Fusion.

You will also be involved with capacity planning and coordination for the migration of Windows and UNIX server environments as well as the Citrix, Storage Area Networks (SAN), messaging and virtualisation environments.

Liaising heavily with the Project Manager, you will also be required to monitor and report project progress and measure the benefits delivered against the business case and project documentation in line with Prince2 methodologies.

Technologies being used:

• Data centre infrastructure, SAN and VMware virtualisation technologies. This includes legacy and current versions of UNIX, LINUX and Microsoft Windows Server environments.
  
• Citrix, MS Exchange, Lotus Notes, Apache web services and Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).
  
• Legacy and current applications on Java, Oracle (includes middleware such as WebLogic and Fusion) and ASP and MS .NET platform.
  
• Microsoft Active Directory, Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Novell Netware.
  
• Legacy and current versions of Oracle and SQL Server databases.
  

Strong communication skills are a must as you will be involved with liaising with product vendors and clients to provide problem identification and resolution.
